Hi everyone!
I hope you all are having a fantastic week. I am so excited the weather is started to warm up a bit, and the sunshine is peaking though! A few weeks ago, I attended a party that sells non-toxic household items. After hearing of the toxic chemicals found in our everyday products, I decided to make a HUGE lifestyle change. I found out that before a woman leaves the house in the morning, she is exposed to 250 chemicals! YIKES! No thank you. I am now on a mission to purchase safe and less-toxic products, to reduce the risk of cancer and disease as I age.
I currently rid my cabinets of:
Deodorant
Body sprays
Perfumes
Toothpaste
Body wash
Candles
Lotion
75% of my hair products
All purpose cleanser
Windex/glass cleaner
Baby shampoo (Clean my brushes with)
I am trying to do this change gradually as it can become expensive. I have switched all of these products to non-toxic, environmentally safe, and healthy products. Don't forget your skin is the largest organ in your body. It absorbs anything that comes in contact with it.
Now don't be fooled when something says natural or organic, you need to know how to read and understand the ingredients on the back of the product. When I look at a product I have no idea what the ingredients mean half the time. Your best cheat sheet is from a website called Skin Deep. Skin Deep is a database in which you can enter the product's brand or name, and see the levels of toxicity, and if you should purchase it or not. It is rated on a scale of 0-10. 0 being the best and least toxic. I would say do not buy a product with a rating higher than a 3. The scale shows what chemicals are in each product, and you would be very surprised how toxic some products are, even if they are listed as natural.
You want to look for products that are made without:
Fragrance
Synthetics
Parables
Sulfates
Etc. the list goes on!
When switching your products to natural or organic, it can become very expensive. The best way to find out if the product is safe, non-toxic, and worth the money is to research a head of time. I have listed below the best places to find deals on natural products, as well as where I purchased mine.
The best place to find natural candles, body lotions, facial products, and essential oil fragrances (non-toxic perfumes), is from Esty.com. These products are home-made, and very inexpensive!
Toothpaste: Tom's of Maine Cavity Prevention (Rates a 2 on the scale) I found this product at Wegmans for $5.
Deodorant Cream: $12.00 Esty.com from a shop called Soapwalla Chef. Worth every penny! Deodorants contain aluminum and other dangerous chemicals, which can cause Endocrine Disease and Breast Cancer
Candles: 2oz candle for $6.00 Esty.com from a shop called Aunaturelle
Fragrance Oil: $8.95 from Etsy.com from a shop called Wonderweeds
Natural Hairspray:
Andalou Natural Hairspray. It has great reviews, and holds up in humid weather! You don't want to keep breathing in dangerous chemicals from your hairspray, which gets absorbed into your lungs.
$20.00 for 2 bottles. Purchased from Amazon.com
Or
Honeybee Gardens $10.00 purchased from Honeybee Gardens website
All-Purpose Cleanser: 7th Generation $5.00 purchased at Wegmans
Shampoo and Conditioner: Derm Organics can find on eBay or Amazon from $20-$65
Body Wash: All Natural African Black Soap. Check your local health food stores. Price: O sale for $6.99 from local co-op.
Facial Products: Eminence Organics Skincare of Hungary
If you are ever questioning if a product is really natural or not, just take out your phone the store, and plug it into the database on Skin Deep.com. It will save you time, money, and your health!
I decided to make this huge life change, so I could a strong healthy person for the rest of my life. I want to be healthy for my future husband, future children, and I want my children to grow up in a healthier world. I hope you take into consideration how toxic the products around your house are, and how toxic they are to the children that live in your house with these products. I just want everyone to live a happy and healthy life :)!

Maybelline Vivid Lipsticks!
These lipsticks are so fun for the spring and summer. If you are all about bright lips these are great for you. The price point is from $6-$8 depending on the store. I got mine from Walgreens for around $7.50 and they were buy one get one half off.
I would suggest using a lip balm under the lipstick, as they are a bit drying. The colors are so beautiful. These are a great buy for the summer. Although I had to reapply the color after 2-3 hours, I have to say for the price they are worth it! These lips look great with a natural eye.
In the picture below I have Pink Pop on my lips. My favorite one is Shocking Coral!

Tarte Cosmetic: Review
Hello everyone!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. I have been very busy lately due to my Esthetics State Board Practical Exam. I have been studying like crazy for the last several weeks, and just took my test on Tuesday. I am so happy it is over!
For the last several months I have been doing a lot of research on different professional makeup brands that do not contain most of the harsh and hazardous chemicals put into cosmetic products. With my immune system being at jeopardy at it is from my Thyroid Disease, having a makeup brand that I am count on for healthier products is very important!
I have learned that most cosmetic products such as mascara and lipstick contain actual petroleum or gasoline. These chemicals get into your body though our largest organ....the skin. When these chemicals enter into our system, throughout the years it can cause a hormonal imbalance or even cause us to have a high level of heavy metals.
Tarte cosmetics is one of the very few high-end brands that does not contain parabens, phthalates, and synthetic fragrances. They use vitamins, minerals and natural fruit and plant extracts to create their products! With using natural ingredients it helps the signs of aging within the skin.
Tarte's packing is made from recyclable or post-consumer recycled material. They believe in minimizing our carbon footprints. Tarte cosmetics is also cruelty-free!
Over the last two years I have fallen completely in love with their entire makeup line. From their blushes to lip-stains, and even foundation! I give Tarte Cosmetics a 10 out of 10 for a Go-Green company, as well as amazing products over-all!
Tarte is always coming out with great specials and packages around the holiday season. They even have a sale section on their website! Now who doesn't love a good sale? :)
I highly recommend checking our Tarte Cosmetics! These products can be found directly from their website, Sephora, Ulta, and QVC.
I have listed below my favorite products:
Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush (Really lasts all day!)
Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara (My favorite holy grail mascara!)
Skinny SmolderEyes Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner (Awesome super pigmented!)
Amazonian Clay Waterproof Shadow Primer (Shadow doesn't budge!)

New technique: Foundation Application
Hi everyone! Over this past weekend I was able to finally test out my new BFF...the Beauty Blender "dupe!"
The Beauty Blender is a tear drop shaped sponge that is used to apply foundation. The first step to using the sponge is to run it under the sink for just 2-3 seconds. Then, squeeze out the excess water.
Next, using your favorite liquid foundation, apply dots of the product using clean fingers. Apply the foundation where you need the most coverage.
Then, using the sponge, use the larger end to push the foundation into the skin. Using a stippling or dabbing motion, work the sponge around the face until blended.
Concealer! Apply your concealer under your eyes in the same steps as you did your foundation, but using the smaller end to get the inner corners of the eye.
Review: I found a dupe or copy cat of the Beauty Blender from Ulta Beauty. The ones from Ulta range from $5-$8. The Beauty Blender version is $20 for one sponge! I couldn't justify spending $20 on a sponge, so I purchased the dupe. I've heard that they work just as well. It took a little practice to figure out the proper motion, but let me tell you my skin looked airbrushed! I was amazed. I even think the makeup lasted longer than using a brush.
To clean the sponge, use baby shampoo under warm water, rinse until the bubbles are gone. Let air dry over night.
I applied my Neon Eyes and Valentine Kisses foundation using the sponge. It made my skin look flawless!

Valentine Kisses!
Valentines Day is right around the corner! Looking for a fun makeup look for Valentines Day? I have created a soft neutral pink eye, with a pop of a beautiful bright pink lip!
Start off by priming your eyes with a nude base. We want to make the eyes look nice and soft.
Add a vanilla shadow to the entire lid. In the outter corner add a hot pink color using a very light hand. Take a clean blending brush and sweep into the crease. Make sure to blend the vanilla and pink colors together.
Taking a soft brown color, sweep into the crease to add some dimension. Apply a soft brown liner to the top and bottom lids.
Pop a shimmery white color onto the brow bone to highlight.
Don't forget to fill in the brows!
Take a dark brown shadow and sweep under the bottom water line.
Now add some mascara!
Use a soft pink blush to pop those cheeks, and using a bright pink lipstick add to the lips. Ugh so pretty!!
The lipstick I've use today is called Whimsey by Tarte Cosmetics. It is a Amazonian Clay Lipstick, and it is awesome!

Neon Eyes!
Hi everyone! I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. One of my Christmas presents this year was the new Urban Decay Vice Palette. This eyeshadow palette is filled with some awesome nude and neon (bright colors). I've been dying to do some fun looks using it. I've created several looks using the Vice Palette. Enjoy!
I started this look by completing the eyes first. This palette contains a lot of shadows that leave a lot of "fall out," or dust under the eyes. If you begin doing the eyes first, then just use a makeup remover wipe or q-tip to clean it up.
For this look I used a black base to make the neon blue pop! I did not take this color past the crease. I wanted it to be wearable for the day time, so I kept the main color on the lid.
Next, I swept a nude color into the crease just to add a little bit of definition.
To finish the eyes I added a soft brown liner to the bottom water line, and a shimmery white under the brow bone.
I kept the lips and cheeks very nude. If you go crazy with the eyes try and keep the rest of your look simple.
Topped with mascara, and I was ready to go!
